Well yesterday I was sipping my coffee and checking my mail and noticed a bunch of junk mail, bills, and one particular item that caught my eye. I hadn’t checked my mail in days so it was slam packed. On May 8th was a nationwide Stamp-out day at the post office where people were supposed to bring canned good items to the post office. And I missed it. I opened my mail too late. I felt horrible. A part of me felt unbelievably guilty for not checking my mail sooner. Imagine how many people I could have fed if I could have just walked to the mail just a little sooner. I felt so bad. So yesterday I got to thinking… why is it that people only help others when someone else organizes something? Why is it people only run to give something when someone asks for it? Shouldn’t giving be done every day for no reason at all? Hmm…. well… I really didn’t have much groceries in my apartment with taxes kind of eating me tight right now so I decided to get with some of my closest friends and we decided to all chip in and we decided to do something really fun and creative… we made some handmade chocolate chip cookies (and my other friends through in some oatmeal ones too) and all sorts of goodies and stuff and we decided to give them to the staff and volunteers at the VA hospital.
People often forget about the staff and volunteers at hospitals. We all wanted to do something that would show our appreciation for the people who always help others. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love helping the patients. But sometimes it’s the nurses and CNA’s and the little people who come in to cheer people up who need a little pick-me-up. So all of us felt really good after that… sometimes the smallest thing makes people feel so much better
Afterwards me and my friends got in our swimsuits and went to the beach, then went driving around and ended up who knows where (I slept on the ride) and we had a picnic in a wooded area that we found. We had such a fun time and just had a blast! Some of them came over to my place and we painted and watched some tv and played games which was nice…
Oooh ooh just a note that Sky is coming to this area pretty soon, I’ve never met her before but we will soon, so I am very excited! Now we just gotta figure out a date…I’m hoping maybe this weekend or something. We’ll see how it goes!
I hope my friend Sweetguy is having a great time in Hawaii and send him lots of love and hugs ((((hug)))).
