Advice

I have a question and welcome any opinions, whether positive or negative. As some of you already know, when it comes to politics, I consider myself Independent. I think becoming faithful to a party opens oneself up to accepting otherwise bad issues just for the sake of loyalty. That being said, I don’t really affiliate myself with any party. In the past, I’ve voted for a combination of democrats, republicans, and many “other” categories depending on the issues they supported (or didn’t support). My most important issues are gay rights, human rights, animal rights, and health care. Other topics are very high of importance too, but rights, in general - along with liberty, equality, and freedom of speech are also very high.

Now that I’ve explained a little about my stance, here is where my question comes in. Over the last several months, I’ve received numerous emails from customers (yes customers *blink*) who have requested I produce a hypnosis recording or video giving suggestions and commands to go to a voting booth and cast a specific vote. When I first heard the suggestion, I thought, Hmmm that could be interesting and could be fun! But I doubt anyone will take me seriously. However, I’ve now received over a dozen separate requests to do so. Should I do an mp3 or video, I may say some funny stuff like, “Vote for Hillary cause vagina controls you.” Or “Vote for Obama cause you know you’re craving a big black cock.” Or “Vote for Guiliani cause he’s a big dork just like you and well, don’t you want to be in office?” Or “Vote for Fred Thompson and then give yourself a round of applause for not remembering why.” — that type of stuff. So obviously, the hypnosis would be more tongue-in-cheek than “real hypnosis” and would be only for entertainment purposes.

The question is… would it actually be stupid to do? Or do you think it would be entertaining with the possibility of actually working? Is it worth doing? I’ve always heard people say - avoid topics of religion and politics. I crossed the line with religion a LONG time ago in my recordings and they turned out to be best sellers (having people worship Me, calling Me God, creating the universe with My bare hands, etc.). But what about politics? Is that too extreme? Or is it something worth considering?

And if I *did* do it… should I make it serious with a confirming voice? Or more relaxed with a humorous tone? Should I suggest people vote for someone ridiculous for the sake of a laugh? Or suggest people vote for someone whom *I* would actually cast a ballot? There are so many ways this could be taken. Normally I would have just shrugged off the suggestions to make such a production, but now I’m thinking of the possibility of actually making a small impact on the country (even converting one voter, to me, is an impact). Who knows, I might even make a video and spread it all over youtube and cause a bit of a ruckus.

All comments welcome.

Thank you!

  1. I would feel that it would be un-ethical to do that. The Right to Vote is something that is very precious and should not be tampered with.

I have voted in every election that I have been eligible for…and all my votes for the Presidential elections have been for nothing because my state went to the other person(Damned “Electoral College”)…BUT I still go out and vote.

This opinion, plus $3.79, will get you a Tall Venti Mocha Frapa-thingy at Charbucks. Mileage may vary. See dealer for full details.

  2. As you know D/s as well as hypnosis can be used for all kinds of things from entertainment to power exchange. Ideally both wink smiley face.

As cynical and as disappointed as I am in our current political state, personally I’m uncomfortable with someone…well you yellow smiley face doing something like this to cause the person to throw away their vote; by that I mean having them vote for someone or some principle you personally find wrong.

On the other hand if a sub or if you enjoy the idea of multiplying your vote by 2 or 2,000 or hey! 2,000,000 yellow smiley face I think that’s fine (and fun).

  3. My gut impression is that voting should be someone’s true individual will and belief system in action (not that the candidates encourage that) and the way people are affected by your recordings might alter that. It is clever and intriguing, though. It would be the ultimate hypnosis challenge to get me to vote for Guilliani, a man who has blood on his hands from his cruel ‘kill them, arrest them, or put them in a mental health facillity’ attitude toward the homeless and squatters (which included me for awhile). Oh well, there’s that nice Starbucks where 25 people used to sleep…

  4. Dear Ms Isabella

Not being from the U.S. my opinion may be kind of moot in such a matter, but if i had written such a request for an mp3 or video etc i would probably hope that the person You would choose for me to vote for is someone who You Yourself would want in power.

i mean any kind of twist You would like to put on it like vote for Hillary cause vagina controls you is fine. But as fruitless as political voting may seem at times it is something that can effect a worldwide scale, especially who’s in charge of the U.S. and if 10′000 or more of Your faithful followers from the U.S. were to choose Your choice thats quite a powerful ballot form You carry :)

I don’t fully know how the U.S. ballot system works but even if You requested Your subjects put Your name down for President of the United States i think even that would work well.

ALL HAIL PRESIDENT ISABELLA!!! :D (Has a nice ring to it) :D
    sincerely & humbly

p.s. where is John Holmes the Porn cat hiding in Your christmas photos, i can’t see him and its giving me one of those little grinding headaches from sitting in front of my monitor for too long trying to find him :D

  5. I’m of several minds on this, and haven’t had my coffee yet so for all I know one of them will fall back asleep before I’m done typing.

that being the case, I’ll start wih what I feel is the most serious (honestly, not my usual MO, despite most of my posts).

If you want to be using your powers for good here, the best thing in the world you could do is make a serious file that urges listeners to research the candidates, the position on issues they claim to uphold and their history of supporting those positions. You could also direct subjects to look in depth into the issues they feel most passionately about to reinforce why subjects support them and to find out why those that disagree with them do. Finally, this recording should urge subjects, no matter what, to vote.

I would stay away from pushing people to vote one way or another, because THAT’S where you get into touchy stuff. If you were to urge folks to vote Kucinich, I might cry with joy, hoping that it could work (the man needs all the help he can get, though he hasn’t a chance of winning!), but if you directed people for Thompson I might be put into a position of questioning your…well, something.

If you’re wanting to do it tongue-in-cheek, I could go two ways. I love deadpan humor and the idea of you doing something off the wall in content with all of your bells and whistles (a term which belies the utmost respect and admiration I have for them) sounding dead-serious while calling for people to vote Voldmort, Patrelli, Colbert, or Valentine just tickles my cockles. You could take audio clips of past presidents making over-the-top statements or converting them into “Ask not what Isabella can do for you, but what you can do for Isabella.”

  6. I see nothing wrong with making a amusing MP3 for politics and voting. As far as I am concerend, politics is for nothing BUT amusement as 99% of them are liers and cheats who would wreck the eco system and people’s lives just for a quick buck.

But as far as making a more serious one, I don’t think it would be bad to make one to tell people TO vote and to research before voting, as voting keeps going down every year. In fact if it got more people to the polls it would be a GREAT idea.

But telling them who to vote for is kind of reaching a tad too far, kind of like voting in an online poll dozens of times to try to make a difference. Plus in a system where millions vote would have to reach an awful lot of people to make any impact.

  7. You could make it equal opportunity (in some ways) and create different short recordings supporting the various candidates you support. (I presume you wouldn’t waste your time on the candidates you don’t care for at all.) That way people still choose the one they want to listen to, so it just reinforces their own rational choice.

Alternately, they listen to several, and they decide to go with the one that resonates the most with them. “Hmmm. I do agree with her points about Ron Paul being just crazy enough to succeed, but that pales in comparison to my desire to worship the divine feminine, embodied in Hillary Clinton…”

The same works if you create one recording that gives the options. “If you prefer to think of being cuckolded by a suave black man, vote for Obama. If you want to spend the next four to eight years masturbating to news about the hottest First Lady in history, vote for Kucinich.” And on on. :)

  8. Honestly Miss Isabella I think you should try in a stern tone to influence us to vote how you would vote. Just another step in your worldly domination. ;)

  9. Interesting choice of words, I appreciate it! Thanks for your Charbucks response ;)

  10. In the past, I’ve known of two or three slaves who lived with their Owners and were told to cast a specific vote - whether or not they agreed with their command. The idea fascinated me, although I didn’t necessarily agree with it. This is one of those gray areas with me. There’s one part that agrees that power exchange means total and complete control over another individual. But then there’s the reality that as human beings, we should all have the mental decisions to act accordingly and in ways that our subconscious agrees.

    Thanks for your comment!

  11. The funny thing is, all the candidates have excellent qualities as well as just… bad… bad qualities. I’ve always viewed politics as “Who is the better of the evils?”

Sorry to hear you had to squat for a while. That’s been a big issue in San Fran. I never really knew much of Guilliani’s stance on that while in NYC.

  12. Kay,
That’s kind of what’s scary. There’s a likelihood I could help convert over 10,000 votes (just my customers) with just a simple free recording/video. And if it’s spread on youtube, that’s even more. So that’s why I take this issue a bit seriously and have asked for advice, cause it’s not really something I want to do lightly.

President Isabella. Now that’s hot. And it would be absolutely hilarious if everyone wrote down “Isabella Valentine” in the empty space. But wow, that would be throwing away such an important vote. In theory, it sounds like the perfect solution for the sake of entertainment. But as you know, voting for someone who leads our country is such a big deal.

P.S. John Holmes the Porn cat is next to the door peeking out of the window.

  13. LOL I like your ideas on the tongue-in-cheek ones… That’s really hot. Colbert or Valentine. Hot.

I think I’d get rather bored if I made a serious-toned “Go vote” mp3, partly because I don’t think people would really care to listen to listen to it. Would you?

But the part about, “Ask not what Isabella can do for you, but what you can do for Isabella.” Is downright priceless.

  14. Thanks for that, I appreciate it. And I agree that 99% (or more) are liars and cheats. And even more than that, they’re excellent in rhetoric just as I can be ;)

  15. I realize after writing that, how strange that must have sounded. What I was trying to say is that the politicians are liars and cheats… (not me) … and… they excellent at rhetoric (the art of persuasion) which I am, so in some small way I can persuade a following of people.

  16. That’s more along the ideas of what I was thinking - an equal opportunity persuasion. Although I must admit, some candidates are just… well… not worth talking about - guess we have to get closer to the primaries or see who drops out.

The comment about “cuckolded by a suave black man” is totally hot. I can’t believe you said that. I get turned on just thinking about it. There you go. Turning me on again. Thanks, Kev.

  17. LOL - now THAT reflects the emails I’ve been getting. haha :)

  18. I have my moments, thank you. :)
I guess on some level the idea of a serious go vote mp3 is akin to a combination of using your platform for a movement you support, such as ALS or vegetarianism, and the personal improvement mp3s like Confidence Beach and Trim and Sexy. I have no idea what the process and cost of producing an mp3 is like, but from a purely academic basis I would love to see the reactions.

Don’t doubt the power of this medium and what you might be able to do with it.

  19. He had an attrocious record of human rights violations. I feel like there is so much that I experienced that nobody is paying attention to, except maybe a paper like The Village Voice. For example, the squatter building on E.12th that was knocked down- while people were in it. Two people died from that..mothers with babies were running out, it was horrible. Another classic Rudie move was the Matthew Shepard memorial march where he gave the go ahead for cops to club and tear gas peaceful marchers (the objection was we didn’t have a permit). I ended up arrested during that, and when I got out the NY Post had the headline “Gay Riot!”

But, lest I forget, that was in a pre September 11 world.

  20. wow… that IS a big decision to make..

in my humble opinion, though, i would say don’t do it unless You were very serious about it. voting is tied to the future of O/our country, whether W/we believe it or not. i definitely agree that the majority of elections comes down to a choice of the lesser of evils, but that just means all the more that voters should carefully think about who to choose.

besides.. Hillary doesn’t have a vagina.. she has a pirhana.

  21. Would it be legal?

I’m totally rooting for Hilary though.

  22. It is a scary prospect carrying 10′000+ possible votes, however those who don’t want to listen or watch the mp3 do not have to.

And i would imagine the reason why so many people have come to You suggesting such an MP3 is because they trust and respect Your political opionions and agenda as well as Your intellect on the issues that are of concern and importance to You and those close to You.

if i was in Your position and there was a party i actually liked i would definately do the mp3 but i would have plenty of disclaimers posted just in case :)
If however i was still on the fence, then i would create a video/recording instead perhaps just sticking in the suggestions that the person needs to watch and find out as much political information they can about the candidates and also come polling day they Must vote.

    sincerely

    kay

  23. Woah! OK, so I haven’t read everyone else’s comments or Your response to them but since You asked for opinions here goes:

Hypnotizing people to vote would be wonderful. Hypnotizing people to put forth the effort to research what/who they should vote for rather than sticking with the Party they identify with would be even better however I’d think that telling them for whom to vote would sort of defeat the entire purpose of having the freedom to vote.

On the other hand if You were using hypnosis in a way to help people become more open to gay rights, human rights, animal rights etc and they then voted based on that acceptance of those rights (rather than because they purchased a vid or recording where You told them to vote one way or another) I think that the possible negative ethical implications would be eliminated.

I know you were thinking of doing it in a non-serious kind of way but I would worry that it would backfire somehow.

    Just my two cents.

    Deidre

  24. I’m not in the US, so it’s of no interest to me, but I’m in a country where voting is mandatory, so I’d suggest perhaps encouraging your listeners to just vote, rather than for whom may be beneficial for all.

  25. An audio or video, hypnosis or not, for voting is a good idea. commanding them to watch Your site for who to vote for. making them vote for whom You want, magnifying Your vote, would be awesome. those who are Yours should vote for whomever You want us to.

    humbly,
    floral

  26. completely unethical - especially if you are making suggestions towards political persuasion based on sexual genitalia - i.e. vagina, black cock etc.

voting is a very important element essential in a progression towards our future.

it also opens you up for potential lawsuits and legal ramifications. ignorance should never be used to fuel propeganda - look to our history and imagine the elimination of spreading ignorance and how much of a better place we would all be in had everyone been more aware of using influence towards empowerment and positive contributions to our society.

    my 2 cents.

  27. yeah voting is a serious concept… the more I think about it, the less inclined I am to produce such a hypnosis mp3/video.

  28. people do “pretend hypnosis” all over youtube for entertainment purposes only - so technically, just speaking is legal (freedom of speech). Legality differs from state to state… but it’s definitely unethical (that I know).

  29. yeah the backfiring thing is always what brings me back to reality. Doing something in fun is one thing, but the ramifications can be so much more. Thanks for the comment.

  30. and there are some countries where people stay in line for hours and hours to vote… in some other places, voting is taken way more seriously than here. I’ve often wondered why so few of our population actually votes.

  31. yeah the more comments I get, the less I’d want to make a political hypno video/mp3. Seems kinda pointless.

  32. yeah I agree it’s totally unethical. Funny thing is, I’m totally expecting someone else to run off with this idea, and ironically - I don’t even care. I’ve pretty much lost interest in the idea as the whole political agenda thing is kind of out of my field to begin with.

  33. floral thinks it might be because people feel voting does not really matter. the politicians we vote into places of power over us promise many things but most of those promises are shattered once they get power. we have seen it happen too often and as a result we do not vote unless it is to get rid of someone we really hate.

    humbly,
    floral

  34. or voting for a cause we truly believe in.

    humbly,
    floral

  35. Since you can’t force anybody to really vote for someone they didn’t support it would just be a bit of a joke I’m afraid.

If people could be brain washed to vote a certain way you know one part or the other would have done it years ago.

But I’m sure those who feel one way or the other would gladly buy up the ones that reaffirm their opinions already.

  36. This is a rather fascinating concept. I do think it’s a bit inappropriate to suggest people vote for a specific candidate. But what might be interesting is something that’s a bit more general. Telling people to go out and vote, get involved in a campaign, etc.

As for party affiliation, etc, I can definitely understand. I’ve always been rather liberal, but I’d never been much for party alignment. Unfortunately with our system, it is set up to make it very difficult for third party candidates to get any traction. So many people I know have decided that the best way to make real changes is to get involved with the Democratic party and try to change it over time.

Personally I’m not sure I buy it, but for now I figure Democrats are far closer to my thinking on these issues than Republicans.
