Madden 09

So I was at Best Buy the other day browsing the aisles for Diablo 2 (which turned me into a living zombie after playing it 6 hours straight) and ran across some kids playing Madden 09 on a big HD TV. The graphics literally stopped me in my tracks because I couldn’t believe I was seeing a video game like that where the people looked so REAL within the game. And normally, for me, football is one of those games where I kinda like it and kinda don’t. The video game though, man… it makes me LIKE football cause I get to be a player AND a coach. I get to design the plays and the teams just how I want it! I even bought a subscription to XBOX Live gold so I could get all the updated stats on all the players after each game. My favorite teams to play right now are the Patriots (Brady and Moss together are really fun in the game), the Colts, the Cowboys, the Chargers, and the 49ers. I’ve lived in Boston, Bloomington (next to Indianapolis), Arlington TX, San Diego, and my family lives in the bay area - so all those teams are familiar to me in a big way.

So anyway I’ve become an instant fan of Madden 09 (which frankly I had never heard of the game prior to this week) and am shocked that I haven’t played this before since it’s been out for twenty years. The graphics this year are MUCH better than they were twenty years ago (of course) - but what really gets my panties soaked is how realistic the game is. Sometimes I put the settings on where it’s snowing outside and when the players play, I can actually see their mouths blowing cold air out of their mouths while they breathe. And every muscle in their arms and legs is perfectly designed so it moves with their bodies. Wow. THIS is how I like my video games.

After playing Bioshock for a week - which I thought was impressive - Madden 09 was even better.

Also… after beating Sir Maurice in Madden 09 (I played Patriots and he played his die-hard favorite team the Redskins) 43-0, I gloated by getting down on one knee and asked him to be my version of a husband so he’ll remember the score as long as he lives. I even had a ring picked out for him and he’s wearing it. I have no intention right now of having a traditional wedding like Americans do it cause statistics of divorce scare me. Instead, I proposed a lifetime commitment and he accepted. He even picked me out a ring too which is being custom made right now and will be ready in 4-6 weeks. We often joke we’re married, so I figure we’d need rings. And yes, we still have an open relationship. He said as long as he knows about it, I can fuck anyone I want and fall in love with anyone I want. If that’s not a perfect marriage, nothing is.

So it’s official… Madden brought our relationship closer.
